La impresora was founded in 2016 by Puerto Rican poets Nicole Cecilia Delgado and Amanda Hernández, more than a workshop, La Impresora is a cultural project. We practice the exchange of tools and skills related to the arts of the book through collaboration with writers, artists from various disciplines and people who seek to self-manage their own publications. With this in mind, our workshop has become a “print-school”, a space to learn and share this knowledge that is not formally taught in Puerto Rico and that is usually mediated or limited by the supply and demand of the publishing market. In addition to offering guidance and low-cost services (editing, design, translation, risography printing, and binding), We seek that our collaborators become involved in the processes through direct participation and dialogue, thus creating a community of interests and shared tools in this important field of cultural production. We are currently the only project of this nature in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
