WhiskeyPaper/WhiskeyPaper Press is an online literary magazine/chapbook press founded & edited by 90s high school sweethearts/husband & wife superteam: Loran Smith & Leesa Cross-Smith. Leesa is represented by Kerry D’Agostino of Curtis Brown Ltd. and her debut short story collection EVERY KISS A WAR was published by Mojave River Press (April, 2014). Her debut novel WHISKEY & RIBBONS was published by Hub City Press in early Spring 2018 and was longlisted for the 2018 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize and listed as one of O Magazine’s Top Books of Summer. She has a short story collection SO WE CAN GLOW and a novel THIS CLOSE TO OKAY forthcoming from Grand Central Publishing, 2020 and 2021. Her work has appeared in Oxford American, Poets & Writers, been anthologized in The Best Small Fictions 2015, received Editor’s Choice in Carve Magazine’s Raymond Carver Short Story Contest, been listed as a Notable Story for storySouth’s Million Writers Award and been a finalist for both the Flannery O’Connor Short Story Award and the Iowa Short Fiction Award. Her short fiction has also been a finalist for Best of the Net and The Best Small Fictions 2017. EVERY KISS A WAR was nominated for the 2014 PEN Open Book Award and listed on Bustle’s 15 Contemporary Short Story Collections By Women You Should Really Read and Hello Giggles’ 25 Books To Read When You’re Falling In Love. And WHISKEY & RIBBONS was listed as one of Entertainment Weekly’s 50 Most Anticipated Books of 2018, Electric Literature’s 46 Books By Women Of Color To Read In 2018, was also chosen as an Amazon Best Book of the Month, and made book lists in Nylon, Southern Living, Harper’s Bazaar, Parade, and many others.
